Welcome to Misfitland, where Life is TOO SHORT to fit in!

Join Teresa Bullock and her special monkey Angel,  rescue primates & other animals who have no place to call home.

OUR MISSION
Misfitland Monkey Rescue is dedicated to providing forever homes to domesticated monkeys that have been born in captivity right here in the USA.. The monkeys that come here have been raised like you would raise a human child.. All the fancy new toys, given warm bottles constantly, diapers changed, warm cute clothes, and fed daily without worry of anarchy and where they fit in on the entitlement of the most desired food/fruit and WHO gets what.. Humanized since birth these monkey have been protected by their humans.. They don't know how to show submission to the alphas.. They LOVE sleeping in a bed, watching television, laying on the couch, using pillows and blankets, their hair being combed, and overall mimicking any action they have seen someone do.. Opening doors, cabinets, drawers, refrigerator or freezer, cans, wrappers, bags, containers, etc acting like the humans they have watched their whole life and knowing the GOOD STUFF is in often hidden in there they will sneak into the forbidden places every given opportunity!!
Having opposable thumbs gives them the same capabilities to do the things you do just as easily.. Oh yeah they are as strong as the average woman so heavy or hard don't stop them either.. They desire a LOT of the things they see people doing/using.. Cell phones, ear buds, jewelry, computers/lap tops etc. is extremely enticing to them.. Problem is no matter how young you start trying to teach them not to break/get these things that you both love so much it NEVER SINKS IN.. Even more so as adults their idea of fun is to snatch these items and to chew, break, bang, etc. until its in pieces.. Sometimes when you try to tell them NO, DON'T, DROP IT etc they can get aggressive about their unwillingness to relinquish the item becoming a ongoing fight that can end up costing them their home when they take it to far and bite someone..
Other ways deeply loved monkz ends up here is health issues of their owners.. OR living arrangements of their owners change and they aren't allowed to come.. OR the new boyfriend/girlfriend keeps getting bit, OR they smell, OR OR OR OR OR can AND DOES cost monkeys their home EVERY DAY leaving them no where to go except zoo's, sanctuaries, labs, lab breeders, or the places that put them on LOAN to educational research which is a fancy name for lab work.. The problem is these monkeys have STRONG HUMAN BONDS and NEED human interaction and things that relate to the ONLY LIFE THEY HAVE EVER KNOWN..

Here at Misfitland they have the interaction of humans, depending on aggression/safety as to how HANDS ON but they are NEVER totally without daily human interaction and bonding they want.. They also have television, soft beds hanging for sleeping, blankets, pillows, food, water, drinks, snacks, their own personal door to the outside where they have free range hunting, sunshine, swings, ropes, pool, and trampoline.. Our goal is for them to have the MOST COMFORTABLE monkey life as possible!! JUST LIKE THEY WAS PROMISED THE DAY THEY WAS BROUGHT HOME FROM THE BREEDER!! Not CHANGE THEM FROM EVERYTHING THEY KNOW to a downgraded life of scared to sleep because of being attack, fighting to eat each meal with many other stronger monkeys who know how to fight and have already established their dominance and are willing ready and able to show the new monk whos boss.. Seriously can you imagine THAT life for them??? AFTER YEARS OF BEING CENTER OF ATTENTION going to a life of hatred, no toys, no surprises, and even WORSE NO HUMAN CONTACT EVER other than when they are shot with tranquilizer darts/guns and sedated for veterinary care..
OFTEN after being surrendered the domesticated primate develops MAJOR DEPRESSIVE DISORDER.. They stop eating making them get very week leading to sickness and death.. Being sick or showing weakness is an invitation for trouble in the animal kingdom.. Monkeys are bullies and the weak gets picked on HARD.. Sad but true..
Here at Misfitland EVERY MONKEY and any other rescued animal (other than the birds) are fixed and can not produce life beyond their own with loads of room to roam peacefully!! They are here to live their life the best way they know and we can provide for them.. We want them to enjoying new things, animals/friends, and people.. We want to offer a educational place that people can come and learn about ADULT domesticated monkeys and their habits.. Our belief is KNOWLEDGE IS POWER and everyone deserves HONEST answers..
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE  shop Amazon Smile and choose Misfitland to help give the rescued animals at Misfitland a better life.. YOU CHOOSING TO HELP MISFITLAND MATTERS MORE THAN YOU'LL EVER KNOW!!! THEY NEED YOU and WE THANK YOU!!
Please consider donating monthly if at all possible.. Your donation is tax deductible 81-1117262 and might be the deciding factor on saying YES to the next monkey who needs us!!

Misfitland Monkey Rescue
January 14th  ·
Laying here with a LEGALLY DEAD MONKEY!! #AbbysStory is nothing short of UNBELIEVABLE!! For the first 9 years of her life she was shoved in a small cage with peg board completely surrounding it and a small hole to shove food through to her.. Oh as a infant she was probably babied.. Diapered, clothed, bottled, etc but after she became a "MONKEY" that was the solution for her destructive behavior.. Imagine sitting in a box with pegboard all around you 24/7 for YEARS!! Then the lady I got her from found out about her and rescued her from that life!! She said that when the lady opened the cage to let Abby out that Abby ran to her and started hugging her as though she was begging for help.. From that day on Abby wore fluffy dresses and was cage free.. RESCUED ANIMALS KNOW WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN RESCUED and they appreciate it!! Abby was extremely well behaved due to the neglect she went through.. Then the Ohio laws changed.. The lady that rescued Abby also had 2 male Macaque's given her 3 total.. She did all the paperwork and such to get her permit and keep the macaques.. In time there was a dispute between the husband and wife that ended up with the cops being called and a restraining order keeping the lady from returning home to the monkeys.. The 3 monkeys was then moved to a rescue where the lady thought she would be able to get them back from after the court hearing and she could return home with them.. Due to the Ohio laws it wasn't that easy.. During this time her husband passed away!! She then hired a lawyer to fight for her monkeys return.. After months of court dates and continuances she received a letter stating that all three monkeys had been EUTHANIZED for health reasons.. Needless to say this shoved her over the edge!! She lost her husband and 3 babies within a few months.. Can you imagine?? Months after a family member was on social media and found Abby ALIVE AND WELL on social media!! It was a new video and Abby is VERY EASY TO IDENTIFY!! She has a broken tail, no teeth, white around her eyes and is microchipped.. Needless to say she went after the one rescue that had her DEMANDING her return!! They had sold Abby to someone who had already passed her on to someone else and they didn't wanna part with her.. I guess it was a big deal but somehow he got her back and returned her.. However he has never produced the boys or disclosed their whereabouts.. This has went on for 2 years now so the ladies permit was taken from her because she had no Macaque's to permit.. That is why #Abby is here.. She wants to maintain a relationship with her of course but can't legally do it at her place.. I keep trying to wrap my head around this entire story and it just leaves me dumbfounded.. I never heard of faking a monkeys death but the more I think about it I guess it could happen a lot with animals.. All I know is I feel blessed to know that #Misfitland will be her last home!! The drama is over for #ThisGirl.. From here on out it's kitty cats and sippy cups!! I have been calling her #AbbyLouise.. She seems to like it and I LOVE how much she acts like #AngelLouise

Misfitland: A woman and her monkeys

I recently got the opportunity to tour Misfitland, a 300-acre primate rescue right here in Clermont County. It was an incredible experience that I wanted to share with everyone. Teresa Bullock and I share a love of all animals; she invited me to come visit her primate sanctuary and hopefully help her out with some grant funding for permanent improvements to her Misfitland. Unfortunately, for her, and many other local nonprofits, most grants are on hold right now, along with most fundraisers. Her annual fundraiser “Homecoming” is always a huge party, lots of bands and fun and raises a great deal of money. It is scheduled for July 11 at Washington Township Park, but who knows if it will happen. It is a big worry for her.

Teresa takes in traditional animals: cats, dogs, even a pot bellied pig. But her biggest passion is her monkeys. She is incredibly passionate about saving animals from euthanasia because owners “can’t handle them” or from breeding facilities. Each one of her monkeys, one capuchin and three macaques, has similar stories. Penny is a two-year-old macaques and Ralphie is a one year old macaques. They came from the same house; the owners needed to sell them and were worried that they would end up in a experimental lab or Penny would become a breeder, so they donated the monkeys to Misfitland.
They are both typical toddlers. When I met them, they couldn’t keep their hands off my pen and seemed fascinated with flipping the pages in my notebook. They love to play with the other animals, love to groom Teresa, and swing in their new jungle gym. Bugs is 20-years-old, Teresa has had him since he was 14-months-old. His original owner gave him away and he was put in a cage; he had never been in a cage before. When he got the chance to get away he ran … straight into the middle of traffic. The original owner was able to get him back, and gave Bugs to Misfitland. Louis is the capuchin, he was 16 when he came to Teresa. He had become aggressive in his old home and the owner was preparing to put him down when she heard of Misfitland. He is now the spokesperson for Misfitland. He and Teresa usually schedule twice a month visits at Wal-Mart as a fundraiser. People love to get pictures with him, but that has also been put on hold.
Teresa would love to take in more monkeys, but funding and red tape are always a concern. She began as an animal sanctuary, and now is listed as a primate rescue, but is only able to take up to three macaques. The permit allowing the three macaques is $500 annually and she has to pay almost $2,000 in insurance.
She would love to take more, she turned down five last year, but the next higher permit would be $1,000 annually. Insurance and permits are the least expensive parts of her rescue.
Each primate has a specific diet, mostly fresh veggies and some fruits and meat prepared twice daily. They also have free choice of chow nuts and seeds. All of her animals are fixed and see the veterinarian regularly. They have great open spaces where they can roam freely for the rest of their lives.
Several of the animal spaces need remodeling; one roof is in need of repair and another barn needs insulation.
The macaques can live to be 30 years, and the capuchin’s average life span is 45. Misfitland is their permanent home.
Teresa would love the sanctuary to become self-sufficient by opening for tours, educational parties and events and she would love to never have to turn away a primate in need.

PictureTeresa with Bugs, the Java Macaque
Teresa Bullock has always had a special LOVE for animals of ALL kinds, but especially monkeys. Through all of her ups and downs in life, the one thing that helped her make it through was knowing that the animals in her care would have a VERY rough life if she wasn't the one to put two feet on the ground and make sure they were taken care of.
When she started posting videos of her farm life, she had no idea that it would eventually pave the way for her to find her true calling in life - RESCUING MONKEYS!

It is our hope at Misfitland.org  that by sharing our journey with all of you, we can reach EVERY SINGLE person who is passionate about saving animals and preserving our planet! Saving animals is only part of our plan...with your help, we can do even more amazing work!! By simply liking our posts and sharing our videos, you are helping bring awareness about our mission, and we CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH for your support! Please share our page if you love what we do!!

            Misfitlands' Animal Control Officer

Angel Bullock is a Java Macaque born January 20, 1997... She is the Animal Control Officer here at Misfitland and takes her job seriously... Angel was diagnosed with diabetes in 2010  and is now given shots at least twice a day. Since Angels' videos have gone viral, we have gotten tonz of support from her fan base. We are now able to take her in for regular checkups and her overall health is majorly improving, thanks to all of you!!! Her iron was LOW, her protein was LOW, and her fat was HIGH. Being able to take her to the vet due to donations has given us an INSIDE look into her, and we can see the difference on the outside. Your donations are SAVING ANGEL'S LIFE, and we can NEVER thank YOU enough!!!!! With your help, years are being added to her life which means the more years we can ALL enjoy the love, light, and SASS that she brings to Misfitland!
